CUFORG's 9th Conference, October 2005
A couple of days later here we are, coming back down from what was a brilliant 9th Annual C.U.F.O.R.G conference.
All settled and buzzing with expectation, we were ready for our first speaker, Alan Alford who treated us to a fascinating discussion on secret chambers and passages of the great pyramid. As someone who has carried out a wealth of research and visited the Great Pyramid himself, Alan was able to give us an in-depth and well thought out presentation, showing that the chambers of the pyramid have been slowly discovered over time and speculating that there are yet more to be discovered. This was also linked in with Egyptian creation myths, and possible purposes for the pyramid being built. Alan's clear presentation style coupled with photographs and diagrams illustrating his hypothesis gave a real sense of what the Great Pyramid is like and sparked our curiosity. All in all a thought-provoking talk, and we wish Alan well with his future studies of this subject.
Our next speaker was Hamish Miller, who gave a very moving presentation on earth energies and the responsiveness of the earth to our consciousness. He showed us images of energy manifestations he has dowsed at locations world-wide, and the way they have changed and grown over the years. A slowed-down recording of crickets let us all hear the way these tiny creatures sing to each other in their "own time". Hamish also talked of the way we can learn to communicate with our hearts, and the importance of honouring and caring for Mother Earth. The talk ended with Hamish dowsing the energy "focal point" of the lecture theatre. At the beginning of his presentation, this centre had 10 radials. By the end, after our attention and presence had been focused on it, there were 18. The earth truly was listening.
Lunch provided a chance for us all to refresh ourselves and relax, time to chat and mull over what we had heard and browse the fine selection of bookstalls in readiness for the afternoon's speakers. Lunch also gave those present the chance to have another viewing of the infamous "Where's Gillham" video, a treat not to be missed.
After lunch we were welcomed back into the conference by Philip Gardiner who gave us an intriguing exposition on the significance of the serpent in history, mythology and religion, re-framing a traditionally frightening creature as a symbol of healing and rebirth. He also talked about snake's venom and it's potential to both harm and heal, and showed us many fascinating images of the serpent from many different cultures and times, highlighting it's importance and frequent presence in our images and mythologies. He even touched on the fascinating idea that snake venom can alter DNA structure, allowing worshippers to become more like their gods.
Next up was Chris Everard, a researcher and broadcaster who showed us exclusive footage from his new DVD, showing strange flying creatures of various shaped and sizes, filmed both from space and earth. He also discussed with us the authenticity or otherwise of the moon landings and let us see interviews with astronauts, ex NASA employees, and even David Icke. His talk touched on everything from flying serpents to UFOs to abductions and the possibility of extraterrestrial life forms taking hologram's of one's thoughts! Chris' evidence and research is in-depth and interesting and he will be a busy man as he continues his work!
Finally, C.U.F.O.R.G's own Dave Gillham treated us to an overview of sightings from the last year, including an artist's impression of a deep orange triangle spotted over St. Agne; another triangle photographed during a storm in America, and strange disk-shaped objects photographed in Tintagel, an unknown location in Cornwall, and Keswick. There was also film footage of strange lights of Loughton. It has been an interesting year and Dave feels the UFO scene is really hotting up again. He assured us that after a bit of a lull he is back at the helm and actively looking into the subject, and I can't end this account of the conference any better than in the words of our chairman: "I'm back, and if I'm back, the UFO's are back!"
Thanks to all our speakers and to all of you for attending - hope to see you all, and some new faces next year.
