What links all these cases?
Although the evidence has built up substantially over the years, there is still no “smoking gun” as to what causes this phenomenon. However, who/whatever is causing this has a distinct modus operandi. The following points highlight common aspects of mutilations:
• Missing parts – In all cases of animal mutilations (as the name would suggest) certain body parts have either been corrupted or removed completely. Usually the eye/s, ear/s, some or all skin, flesh and the rectum are removed. In a lot of cases the brain is also missing.
• Blood completely drained – In nearly all cases of AM’s the blood has been siphoned out (this led to the original theory that it was a satanic cult who had moved into the effected areas and performed ritual sacrifices, although this has been completely dismissed by all leading investigators). Around the corpse there is very rarely any excess blood.
• Alienation by scavengers and farm dogs – When a corpse is discovered it is usually avoided by wild and domestic animals alike. The reason for this is still unclear.
• Evidence of an aerial descent – A lot of cases of AM’s have evidence of the dead animal being dropped from some significant height. One case looked into in 1981 by the investigative journalist Linda Moulton Howe found a 2,300lb bull found on its back with its horns imbedded 3ft into the floor. The area of ground where the bull was discovered was described as “like make-up powder” with no marks, tracks or blood discovered anywhere nearby. Other cases have found animals in dense bush areas with now marks or broken branches leading in and marks found well above human head height on trees where the animal had supposedly fell from the sky.
• Strange cuts – Leading pathologists and veterinarians have stated in many cases that the incisions made on the animals appear to have been made by a high power laser-based cutting instrument of some kind.
• Unidentified aerial activity – In the leading up to incidents of AM’s and following them UFO’s or lights in the sky have been reported.
Interestingly another factor that links a small number of AM cases is the discovery of pure haemoglobin on the carcasses. Haemoglobin is found in the blood plasma and carries Iron around the body. In order to create pure haemoglobin it would take money and expert scientific knowledge, as it does not occur naturally.
Who/what does it?
There are two main theories as to what has been happening to the animals involved in these mysterious mutilations. Unfortunately the vast amount of available evidence can be used to support both of these views:
1. Aliens – The most popular belief is that non-terrestrial entities are doing biological and physiological research on the fauna of this planet. Like mentioned before, animal mutilations have been preceded on many occasions by UFO or “unnatural light” sightings in the skies around the area involved. Between the 5th and 7th of September 1967 in Luis Valley, Colorado a stable owner named Nellie Lewis witnessed strange lights and activity around her property. On the morning 8th of September she discovered the lifeless remains of ‘Lady’, one of her mares. The horse did not have any flesh on her shoulders, neck or head. The official cause of death was recorded as struck by lightning. The local police neglected to mention that the corpse was found to be missing its brain and not a single drop of blood was found nearby. When Nellie mentioned her UFO sightings the local press printed headlines such as “Flying saucer killed my horse” to ridiculed her. This case is one of thousands reported since the middle of last century.
2. Government Agencies – In 1993 world-renowned mutilation investigator and former police officer Ted Oliphant received a tip-off that helicopters were landing in an area plagued with mutilations to refuel. After witnessing two Chinook helicopters landing and dropping fuel barrels and then other helicopters coming and picking up the fuel, he concluded that it was the government behind the recent spate of mutilations. Ted and other like-minded conspiracies believe that some sector of the government is doing research into epidemiology, mainly into BSE and CJD. BSE is reported to lay dormant in the spinal column and even though spines are very rarely removed, this may explain the reasons behind the removing of the anus and genitalia. The theory is the ‘agency’ would come along at night in helicopters, pick up the specimen, remove the required parts, get the required samples then simply drop the animal out of the helicopter.
